Specification

APEX at a glance

What the current build does, stated the way a tender evaluator would ask for it.

Form
Windows desktop application for control rooms, substations and electrical rooms. Installed on a workstation inside your network; no internet connection needed.
Protocols in
Modbus TCP · DNP3 · IEC 60870-5-104 · OPC UA · MQTT Sparkplug B, all read-only. Each has its own commissioning screen with connectors, status, saved connections and the point grid; connections export as JSON.
Data out
One OPC UA server publishing the reconciled, quality-stamped data to a historian or an existing server.
Cameras
Dual thermal and visual PTZ cameras over ISAPI and RTSP (Hikvision and HikMicro). Per-camera alert and alarm setpoints, section grid, crosshairs, digital zoom, on-screen and USB joystick PTZ.
Recording
24/7 on both streams with storage shown; event clips on every alert and alarm with a 3-second thermal data track; synced playback from 0.5× to 8× with ±10 s steps.
Thermal analytics
Readings refreshed every 60 seconds; solar hot-spot checks gated at 600 W/m²; section heat-map, section ΔT trend, maximum against irradiance with the fitted model, findings with evidence and confidence.
Alarms
ISA-18.2 shelving, acknowledgement and journal; analytics on counts, rates, durations and response times; a response page per alarm with threshold, likely causes and desk-side checks.
Asset condition
Transformer faceplates with DGA (IEEE C57.104), tap position, oil and winding temperature; switchgear SF₆ density and contact wear; feeder loads and comms quality per device.
Analytics
Losses decomposed from theoretical to delivered with a cost and an owner; cleaning economics; curtailment journal; 24-hour and 7-day forecast with confidence band; predictive maintenance with remaining useful life. Methods shown on the AI/ML page.
Reports
PDF and Excel/CSV, per plant or portfolio, leading with recoverable energy and money; availability in GADS / IEEE 762 terms; the customer's mark on every page.
Standards referenced
ISA-101 screen hierarchy · ISA-18.2 alarms · IEC 61724-1 and IEC 62446 solar performance and inspection · IEEE C57.104 transformer DGA · GADS / IEEE 762 availability · WESM dispatch and NGCP grid context.
Physical access
UniFi Access door controllers: lock, relay and door state per door, grouped by site; remote unlock only from the faceplate under operator roles. The single write function in the product.
Security
Sign-in and operator roles held in the protected main process; a signed, sealed installation that refuses to start if altered; encrypted installer; one network destination policy; device passwords kept in the operating system's environment, never in APEX files.
Honesty rules
Measured, modelled and simulated are labelled differently on every screen; missing data reads as missing, never zero; simulated data always carries a badge.

Figures above describe the current build and are checked against the application before publication.

ISA-101 hierarchy

Drill down from fleet to a single device

Screens follow the ISA-101 high-performance HMI hierarchy, so an operator always knows which level they are looking at.

  • Level 1 Fleet. Fleet Overview and Remote Control Center: every plant at once.
  • Level 2 Plant. Plant status, generation, weather and communications health.
  • Level 3 Area. One section of plant as a device list with live values and comms quality.
  • Level 4 Device. One device: its points with units and quality, its link, its trend and its condition.

Every string, inverter and breaker is one click from the screen above it.
